I had to design a cover for my design class that could be suitable for OTD. Since I knew there would be so many wonderful covers worth consideration for OTD, I decided instead to use the opportunity to learn more about photoshop and implement some of the techniques. I dove into dozens of online tutorials and put together a cover that I like, though it doesn’t really hit the OTD mandate and the cover lines are competing too much with the cover design. You can see the evolution (trying to make the logo pop more and trying to let the cover lines come to the forefront). Have I succeeded? I think it still needs work, but feedback would be helpful.
I’ve also attached the other cover shots I like. But they are unformatted at the moment.

Wow. Your covers are so EDGY!! My faves are the first two…the colour combinations work the best. They are definitely designed for a different audience, but the covers work really well. Too bad OTD isn’t about the underground youth culture in the neighboorhood.
Great experimenting with photoshop–you should check out the “you suck at photoshop” tutorials, humour and instruction all rolled up into one.
Ellen,
I want to steal this cover from you–I don’t think I have ever been so happy to be in a picture before! I am so thrilled, I twinkle with stars! Thanks for immortalizing me in a piece of art. Great work!
Ellen,
These covers are amazing. You are a rockstar! My favourite is definitely the second one. The logo and cover lines stand out best when they are the only black on the page. And while I am usually not a fan of solid colour behind cover lines, it works here. Congrats!
